Well, I'm not a huge fan of Halloween with all of the yucky (scary) decorations and costums...but, I do love the fall decorations and the fun things that come with the season! Rusty and I handed out candy to the children in our neighborhood for the first time in our new house! In SC, we didn't have kids near us, so we missed out on the sugar-fest, but, we were able to make up for it last weekend! We ended up running out of candy half way through the night, but we sure did have fun!

Our neighbors from SC, Evan & Audrey, stopped by our house on Friday night on their way to Kansas. They are in the process of raising support to go to Japan to be full time missionaries. It was really good to see them again. They are always so encouraging! We had a fabulous meal that Rusty and I cooked! Yum!! He even grilled the chicken for our burritos! Here he is chopping cilantro...what a cook!
After dinner, we took Evan & Audrey and walked down to Hillcrest Ave. It is famous (infamous?) for it's Halloween decorations. Every house gets in on the action.
Sidenote: one of our friends saw a woman in the grocery store with a shopping cart loaded with candy. She asked the woman (because the cart was laughably full with candy) why she was buying so much. The woman responded that she recently bought a home on Hillcrest and her new neighbors warned her that she should expect 200-300 people on Halloween!

So, we decided to give Evan & Audrey time to stretch their legs and see a side of Louisville. We headed down to Hillcrest around 9:30 at night and it was still packed with kids

and adults all dressed up! My favorite house was the Peanuts Halloween house, where they were even showing the Great Pumpkin Peanuts' movie! :) Here's another view of the decorations...the doghouse that Snoopy was on was even smoking! It was incredable to see people sitting at the edge of their yard with huge tupperware tubs of candy...they even had rules like: no costume, no candy. :) It was a great time and good exercise. I'm not sure if we would walk it again because of the massive crowds and yucky decorations, but it was fun to show E&A a little bit of our town.
