Date Saturday!

:) How much fun! This past weekend, Rusty took me on a surprise date day! We ran some errands in the morning, and then by 2:00, he was whisking me off to a surprise location on a cold and wet Saturday! We were both so excited to go, even though I had no idea where we were headed. Please see the attached photos to gauge our excitement.

So, we headed downtown. We parked and, unfortunately, Rusty had thought of everything, but to bring change for the parking meter! I know, crazy thing, but Louisville charges for parking on the weekends! We stuffed in all of our silver change and only came up with 30 minutes. He said that it would take at least an hour, so we were standing there in the freezing rain trying to weigh the pros and cons of a parking ticket....when along came two gentlemen who had (with their coins joined together) had change for a dollar! So, we were off to our surprise afternoon!

We went to Glassworks! It is one of the glass factories in Louisville. We went on a tour and learned all about glass art...well, at least the bare minimum of glass art. We sat and watched two men doing flamework, which is where they work with a tiny, stationary blow torch and make different designs. So very cool to see the glass become like sticky tack to be molded. Then we went down to where they kept their hot furnaces...these are what you normally think of. With the huge furnaces that are kept at a ridiculously hot temperature for the glass to stay molten, they were really cool to watch. We watched some kids blow their own ornaments! What a fun Christmas present that would be! :) It was a fun time. Rusty and I had both wanted to go on a tour now for some time. He was so sweet to think about surprising me with it! :)

But, the day wasn't over! We headed back toward home and ate dinner at a restaurant we had both been wanting to try. Caffe Classico is on Frankfort and we had been told that it was AMAZING! So, we headed down there and got there around 4:30 or so. We strolled in (the only ones in the place) and asked if they were open for dinner. Surprisingly, they said yes, and they opened the restaurant for us! We were the only ones in the place for a long time and then someone came in and ordered coffee and read the paper. It was so much fun! It was a leisurely dinner with coffee afterwards. And, we ate so early that we were able to get to bed early too! Woo-hoo! What a fun Saturday with my Rusty!
