Flower...er, shrubbery beds that is :) This weekend was yard work weekend. We didn't get to finish all that we had planned, but we did get the front beds done :) All day Saturday, I pulled a million weeds. We had to spray round-up on a lot of them because they were so huge. Sunday was mulching! As usual, I started taking pictures after I had already begun, so there is no real before picture. I wish you could have see them with the weeds. It would make the after photos look that much better :)
Here are our lovely shrubs sans weeds, edged (thank you, Rusty) and
ready for a good mulching!

Step 1: Lay a thick layer of newspaper down to use as a weed-blocker/killer. This is desperately needed in our beds. I just don't like to weed every weekend. Not therapeutic like some people claim. Maybe it is from my dad making us kids pick weeds as chores.... (just kidding, dad) :)

We decided to use the recycled rubber tire mulch. It is more expensive and doesn't go as far as the normal mulch, but it is supposed to last 12 years. I'll let you know in 12 years if we got our money out of it ;) But, seriously, if we just have to touch up the beds every year instead of completely re-doing them...that would be worth it to me. Doesn't it look purdy??

Here is our cute little tree sporting its new base of beautiful mulchy-ness.

Rusty kept me company as he sanded one of his pipes and chatted on the phone :) Soooo beautiful!!!!

Here I am so happy that the beds are done! YAY!!!!!
