New addition to our wall...

This weekend was officially 'work on the yard' weekend, but I wanted to show you a small thing that made such a huge difference inside. We had a horribly ugly thermostat that was not working properly. Sorry...no before picture to show it off. But, just imagine a 1960's model round thermostat with a glass bubble protector that was missing. And, imagine that when you would set it for 80 degrees, it would think that you actually set it at 72 degrees. Needless to say, we needed a new one.

We went all out and got a digital, programmable thermostat to replace our old one. High rollers, huh? Well, we have been told that the programmable ones help you save money (yay!) by turning your system off when you are sleeping or out at work...that was our real reason for buying a fancy one.

Here is Rusty removing the remaining plate of our old system. (He just worked way too fast...I couldn't get a proper 'before' photo with the old thermostat in all of its glory.)

Here is our poor wall without the thermostat. Lovely paneling, huh? Who knew our walls hid such beauty?
Here we are sweating (because the power had to be cut off for this part) and installing the new guy. Doesn't it already look better? Minus the fact that it has a paneled halo?

Things must get worse before they get better. Here we are sanding the paint globs away so that everything would be nice and smooth once we repainted. We also spackled the holes that the previous unit had made.

Doesn't it look nice? Granted, there is still a little bit of a ring around it, but we did the best we could...and if I do say so myself, she is a great addition to our walls. So sleek and money-saving ;)
