Well, first off, because I promised momma Vicki that I would put it on the blog, here are pictures of my latest mosaic. It is based off of Psalm 1, which in essence, sums up the whole of Psalms. It is a picture of the tree that is planted by streams of living water, whose leaf does not wither and who bears fruit in its season. You will notice (hopefully) that the mosaic is of two different materials...glass for the stream, tree and leaves and ceramic for the background. I wanted to show that the stream actually becomes part of the tree and is its life. So...here are some pictures. I hope you enjoy them :)
Here is the very beginning...you can see how things change from the initial picture to the finished product.
Here it is...all the tiles in place, ready for it's grout make-over :)
Lots and lots of black (charcoal, actually) gritty, grimy grout!
After about a million and a half swipes with the sponge later, here it is ready to be dried overnight. The finished product is pretty much the same...if I have time, I'll get you a tried and true 'finished' photo.
So, there you have it...the Psalm 1 mosaic. It is a little hard to tell the two different tiles (glass and ceramic) in photos, but up close and personal, there is a difference...the glass reflects light a lot better, so that helps with the differentiation. :) I hope you like it :)
