I agree that 'science' really has left no room for a discussion on this issue. (I had a class in college where I asked questions about intelligent design and I was pretty much made fun of...) The movie was pretty harsh comparing the environment of no differing opinions to Nazism, but, taken to the logical conclusion, then perhaps, that is what will happen.
In Germany the Nazis killed or punished anyone who spoke against their position; the scientists are not quite to the extreme yet, but they are making it more and more difficult to bring up something that does not entirely agree with their position (and, in fact, killing them in an academic way). It was interesting that the movie pointed out that the Nazi belief in the Aryan, perfect race was taken from Darwin's theories. The Nazis also began taking professors out of their positions by not teaching the Nazi-approved curriculum. Interesting that the theories taken to the logical conclusions by people with political power led to ethnic cleansing and 'survival of the fittest' by euthanizing millions of people because of age, mental capacity, deformities, etc. It was evolution being pushed along by those in power. I guess the thing is is that if you take away the designer from creation, then life becomes meaningless; there is also no responsibility to a higher power for your actions. So, once life has no meaning and there are no repercussions to your actions, then why not kill everyone who you don't agree with? Why not kill the 'useless eaters'? Why not help evolution along so that we can really see in one our lifetime the fruition evolution of the perfect, strongest, smartest race of humans? Interesting...So, the things exposed by the movie were pretty unbelievable that they were taking place in our world today, but not so unbelievable at the same time. In short, I would recommend the movie.
