Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!

The Christmas season is offically here in the McKie home! It has been a strange start to the season with our being gone for Thanksgiving. The wonderful Thanksgiving holiday really starts the Christmas season for me. It is a tradition that I have carried over to my married life to put up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving. So, being gone put a crink in that plan, though, I'm not sure I would trade the day of festivities for our trip to England...

Anyway, I was so happy to be able to put up our tree last night! We were planning on putting up the tree this weekend, but things got in the way and we ended up pushing it to Monday night. Rusty surprised me by putting up the tree all by himself while I was at work. We have a wonderful, lovely fake tree that is pre-lit and beautiful! Rusty (get this...) grilled us hamburgers for dinner in the cold and dark...they were AMAZING!! So, we had a great meal and then got the boxes up from our basement with the decorations. (That is me above fluffing the tree to get it ready for its decorations.) We had a great time listening to Christmas music and hanging ornaments, laughing at silly old ones and enjoying the special ones together. The kitties love, love, love the Christmas tree!! One of them will hide underneath it and when the other kitty walks by, they will tear out of the tree and scare the innocent one just minding his own business. It is really funny to watch! That is Rusty about to put the star on top of our tree, but he wanted to test it out first to see how it looked on his head :) Yay!! We even got to wrap a couple of gifts and stick them under the tree! Merry Christmas!!
